I have a 2nd interview next week at a wonderful assisted living facility. I think they want me to work as a CNA in the dementia, Alzheimer's unit. Could anyone tell me what a normal day at an assisted living facility working with Alzheimer's (advanced) patients would be like? There were 2 people conducting the 1st interview. One girl was about my age and she said she would never be able to work in the Alzheimer's unit. It made me very apprehensive.
Thanks

when working with dementia and/or Alzheimer's remember to smile and stay calm and sweet no matter what. It's always worked for me. Even if the words they are you are saying aren't making sense there's something about "the vibe" people put out that they can always sense. It may surprise you how you can fall inlove with these people who don't seem to know who you are a lot of the time. Every so often they surprise you though on how much they may actually know on some level. In the interview they'll probably ask a lot of "what if" questions. Remember you never argue with them over facts. If they don't want to take a shower. telling them "But it's been a week" probably wont work. You have to get to know them and find out what the key is....that answers always worked for me anyways.
