All Heart Services-Registry????

Published

Hi,

I would like to know if any of you are familiar with this registry called ALL HEART SERVICES...I came across their ads in the newspaper hiring RN's for Sate Prisons. I called them up and I specifically ask them if they are an agency and I was told that they do not operate as an agency but a registry with a contract with the state of CA in regards to hiring healthcare employees such as RN's. They offer 8,12 hour shifts and basically the job is per diem. They offer $38.00 an hour. What do you guys think? Paid orientation. I am actauuly thinking of considering this as part time job on top of my 3 12 hour shift a week and maybe just do 2 8 hours per week at the prison? Any feedback??? Thanks!

They are the ones doing the paying? Then they are an agency.

Not sure when you graduated, but you need some experience under your belt before working agency or registry. And espeically in the jail system.

At least one good solid year, sorry if they are telling you otherwise.

Your assessment skills need to be top-notch, your emergency skills need to be top-notch, etc.

Thank you Suzanne for the reply. Yes, they will be the one paying me...I don't know why they said they're not an agency...What is the difference between an agency and a registry anyways??? I also mentioned to them that I am a new grad/new licensed RN with less than 6 months of experience. Yeah, I'm just starting and my experience with assessments and critical thinking is not ripe yet....I have so much to learn still......

Back in the old days, there were differences between registries and agencies, but now, they are the same. Just a difference in semantics.

In the past, the registry had a list of nurses that were signed up with them, and they had essentially credentialed, so if a hospital needed a nurse for private duty work, they called a registry, not the agency, because the family would pay directly for it, not the facility. The registry would give the family a list of nurses that were available and the family would need to make the arrangements.

That is no longer the case.

I would not even think of a prison job until you have at least two years of experience, this company is only interested in a body, not your license.
