Hi, I need a piece of advice.
It's almost a year now since I started working as an RN but I started in an Assisted Living/ Memory Unit facility which means I don't do a lot clinical nursing skills and thorough assessments. Most of my patients are the geriatric population.
After a year, I decided to get a job at a local Nursing skilled rehabilitation. Since I'm an RN, they want to place me on sub acute rehab unit. I'm going to start next week for a week of orientation and It's pretty nerve wracking about this transition.
I've been on ALF and homecare jobs as a CNA and nurse for 3 years and this is probably be a big adjustment for me.
HELP! What preparations should I do?
What materials should I read to get me ready?
I really don't want to blew it because I am aiming for a hospital job someday.
Thanks.

Refamilarize yourself with glucose monitoring, med administration, wound care, trach care, etc.
Learn how to have a "brain sheet" to organize what needs to be done-list who needs glucose monitoring/insulin coverage, VS, etc.
Also relax, remember to organized, and the rest will follow.
Best wishes.
