Currently residing in Florida and taking the plunge into traveling. Tend to go to the extreme on any newly embarked change in life so Alaska is 1st on my list.

Strike Hopping CA ~ Good or bad idea?

Fact or Fiction: Can you make 100k or greater as a traveler in Anchorage, winter months?

I understand that experiencing new adventures should be the driving force and not $$$ but after 4 years I want to start making the dough I can sink my teeth into.

Thanks in advance

I took 3 travel assignments in the "Lower 48" before heading to Alaska. I ended up staying 6 years. The pay was much better than Georgia, and not as much as California. Groceries and restaurants were double or triple what I was used to. I was in a village and used cabs to get around. Or walked. As far as things to do, it's all about having the right clothes, but getting outfitted for the winter cost me $500 at REI. I've ridden on dogsleds, walked to a friend's house at 28 below, pulled in 80 salmon in a 20' boat, knitted socks for the entire nursing staff, ate homemade chili for 3 months straight. Don't go to Alaska for the money....but it's a great place to try out for one assignment.
