Air Force Reserve Nursing

Published

Hi everyone, I am new to the site, but have been reading information here for a while now, I just finally registered. I was looking to find out if anyone was familiar with air force reserve bases for nurses? I have looked online and know of reserve bases but can't find anything for units that have nurses. I am prior active duty enlisted, have been a RN now for a little while and I was interested in the reserve nurse corps, but I am not ready to contact a recruiter yet; I still need to speak with my wife, but I want a little more info first to answer her questions. I live in southern NM, if anyone can help me find the nearest reserve unit with nurses I would be greatly appreciative.Thank you

Along with Air Force Reserve, I'm also interested in Army Reserve nurse/medical units as well, thanks.

Specializes in ER, ICU.

I would just call the recruiter at Alamogordo and ask them. You might have to travel though, I don't know if they have nursing jobs. Colorado Springs has an air evac unit as does March AFB in CA, and Lackland in San Antonio. There is also the Air National Guard in Fort Worth. I'm Wyoming ANG, you can email me if you like. Good luck.

Ok, thanks... What's the guard like?

Specializes in ED. ICU, PICU, infection prevention, aeromedical e.

Just call the nurse recruiter - not the regular enlisted recruiters at the mall - find the nearest one online since they are spread far and wide. Contacting a recruiter doesn't mean you commit. Just get the right info , then you have the correct info to share with your wife.

The Guard increases your possibility of being activated, which is fine with me. I joined to serve. The training has been awesome but commitments cut significantly into family life. You have to have a really solid family plan but it is worth it. Taking home the wounded warriors is the best mission in the Air Force.

Thanks for that, I'm prior active duty, was out in the desert for a while and all that, I just never lost that itch and now I'm thinking of doing it again
