COT is like diet boot camp. It's half as long and half as physically demanding. I would say it's more mentally draining than anything else, especially if you have no prior military experience. The big thing is that you're awake 18 hrs per day 6 out of 7 days for most of the 5 weeks you're there; a good chunk of that is spent listening to power point presentations.
New grads have it pretty tough. Most people that come-in without nursing experience did ROTC---not direct commission. DC is really just to fill in the extra spots. If your grades are really good (like 3.8+), and you have some cool life experience to talk about, you should be okay. If you don't meet that requirement, then it's kind of a toss-up. New grads kind of look all the same without something to make them stand-out (prior enlisted, grades, cool back story, etc).

Yeah, my recruiter also told me the results have been delayed... I wonder how long it will be?! You should follow "Air Force NTP 2014" on allnurses... if you type that into the search bar, I'm sure the page will come up. There are a bunch of people following that page that applied to NTP for this next year as well. Did you apply for the med-surg or OB route? And best of luck to you as well!

Hey everyone! I have applied for the Air Force NTP and will find out if I made it in July. I've had my interview and now its just the waiting game. I was wondering if any of you could tell me what to expect at COT, the chances of getting into this program (I know it's really competitive), and what life is like with Air Force nursing vs civilian nursing? Thanks!
