Air Force NTP

So, I need help with a decision.

I graduate on May 8th and already have an RN in-between-job waiting on me. I have a January 2011 COT date and I'm currently signed up to go to NTP. Now that I have the time to work as an RN for 6 months I have the option of not going to NTP. How valuable is NTP? Will it all be remediation after working 6 months? Should I still go?!

I would love some opinions from those who went to NTP and from some RNs that went in with minimal experience... but of course, any responses would be appreciated!

    As an experienced RN, I continue to pursue many educational experiences. Yes, some have been to simple for me. But overall, I walk away with something new. I encourage you to go to NTP. 6 months in nursing is nothing. I've been an RN for 14 years, and I still have areas that I feel like I know nothing.

    Take NTP. Enjoy and soak up some extra knowledge. :)

    I've been an RN for two years and wouldn't have passed up NTP - seriously. I even asked if they'd let me go and was told no.

    if i were in your shoes i would take the course. since you will have some nursing experience it might not be as challenging as if you were a new grad but you will most definitely leave with a lot of new knowledge.

    i never pass up an opportunity to learn more about the job i am doing. it makes my job easier during stressful situations.

    Plus - and BELIEVE me, this is so true - how the military (AF, anyway) does things is miles, miles, MILES away from how the civvies do it. Loads of paper, lots of almost double charting, lots and lots of "x's" in boxes. They leave nothing to chance and leave no stone unturned.

    Definitely definitely take the NTP.
