Air Force NTP Boards July 2013

Hi all! Just turned in my packet and finished my telephone interview for the boards in July. A little about myself; I am going into my senior year of a BSN program and will graduate in May 2014. My current GPA is 3.49. I'm prior service Air Force(4 years). I have worked in the ER for the last 13 months as a Clinical Assistant(basic CNA stuff, but we can do phlebotomy, EKGs, and Bladder Scans). My references were two doctors(O-6(sel) in the Navy Reserve and a O-4 in the ANG) and a NP(Ret. O-4 Army reserve), I'm not really sure how much weight they will carry in the actual boards process.

For anyone that is wondering, the telephone interview followed the format that your recruiter should provide you with. It started out just by introducing yourself and since I was prior service my interviewer skipped over the part about informing me about the military since I have already been in. Then she just asked me questions about critical thinking, evidence based practice, and an ethical dilemma I have faced. The interview was pretty straight forward and not much at all like an interview. She went on to ask about my future goals and how I'd be a good fit for the Air Force. It pretty much followed the guideline that my recruiter gave me to a tee. Now I just have the long two month wait of seeing if I am selected or not!

Good luck to everyone else applying!

Im waiting as well for the NTP boards. I was originally told the 15th too and then my recruiter let me know that the results should be about two weeks from today. I was given the option to say how soon I would be available to leave for COT but didn't get to pick. Everyone who is selected will be told when they are going once they get their orders. Our 3 closest options are october 2013, january 2014, or march 2014.

I'm going the NTP route and my recruiter gave me two dates to choose from if I am selected. One was in October and and the other was January 13th.

I am also waiting for the NTP boards. I am biting my nails down to the bone, waiting for the results. I turned in my application packet without asking about the COT dates. I just hope that I get selected. Good Luck everyone :)

Maybe that's why I never got a choice. I told my recruiter that I would go whenever and wherever and that I'm ready to leave now. Seriously. I have everything packed up and in storage and we are renting a small room at my parents. My lease was up and I didn't want to renew it on the off chance that I would be accepted.

I'm biting my nails too! And my anticipation has raised my adrenaline level and so I'm always hungry. It's crazy. Good luck!

I didn't pick a COT date. We just discussed informally that it would probably be March 2014 since my graduation day is December 2013.

That also depends on when you will be taking the NCLEX. I graduated Dec 2012, took NCLEX Jan 15, comissioned Jan 31 and went to COT in march. I had to commission before Feb 1st or they were going to give my spot to someone else, which means if I had taken the nclex after January I would have had to wait until a later COT date. It'll probably be the same chain of events for you =] Good luck on selection!

I graduated in May 2013 and took and passed the NCLEX June 2013...I'm ready to go!

I got an e-mail back from my recruiter today. She said the Board met on July 30, and the expected release date will be July 16. She also said that the number of applicants this year is 240!! That's a heck of a lot of people applying for only 30 med-surg positions and 6 OB positions! Whew!

I hope the results come out on August 16th, I wouldn't be surprised if they were the week after that though. Also, 240 applicants does sound like a lot if that is the correct number, but according to the info that my recruiter gave me on past years, 240 is well below what they normally get. He said they usually average around 300, so at least the odds are a little better this year. ;)

My husband is in the Air Force and is TDY right now, so he texts me the same thing every morning "Anything?". I'm starting to think he wants this more than me..lol. Well, good luck to everyone!
