I will be appling for the air forces necp program for the year 2017. I just had a couple of questions that I needed answered. The requirments say that you can't have more than 10yrs. active total federal service time. Is it easy to get a waiver for this requirement, or has anybody on here gotten a waiver for this? Also, has anyone who previously applied had a srb, and did over half of their commitment and still got accepted into the program? Also, for those who got accepted how was it before you got to go back to school for your masters, and how difficult was the interview with the chief nurse? What did you do to prepare for it? My end goal is to become a CRNA in the air force, but i have to get accepted first. I am a Staff Sergeant with 8yrs. in the service. If there is anybody who can answer my questions, or doesn't mind giving me advice I would sure appreciate it.

Hello!
The 10 year active total federal service time is a requirement that is new for this years applicants, so you won't find anyone that has successfully attempted to get a waiver for it. From what I have heard, most Chief Nurses will not even interview you if you are over 10 years (but it certainly won't hurt to press forward until that point).
The chief nurse interview should be looked at like a job interview. I showed up with my NECP package and was in service dress. Do a little research about the Nurse Corps before you show up, that way you won't be caught off guard if they ask questions such as the Nurse Corps mission. It really all depends on who your Chief Nurse is, though, so they could ask you whatever they want. Mine wanted to know why I wanted to be a nurse, and why the Air Force should accept me to the program.
I can't really help you with any of your other questions, but there is a very active Facebook page dedicated to NECP where I am sure your questions can be answered.
