Hey guys! Thought I'd start this after seeing a request :)

My name is Hope..graduate in December with my BSN. Applied OB... Alternate #5

Thanks, Hope!!

My name is Chris and I'm alternate #18 (Med/Surg). I graduate in May with my BSN!

Hey Everyone!

I'm Tamara and I'm Alternate #20-ish (since my recruiter didn't know the exact number). Here is to hoping they'll need more nurses! I wasn't able to get too many details about the alternate list but does anyone know how that works? How many they may take...etc.? Just wondering if anyone got any more information than me.

Good idea to start this thread Hope and Chris!!

I'm Kari and I'm alternate #31 for med/surg and will be graduating in May with my BSN!!

Tamara, all I know about the alternate list is that if people decline or get disqualifed, then they start selecting people from the alternate list. I guess we have a chance of getting selected until the last select gets shipped. No idea how many they may take though...all I've heard from my recruiter is that she doesn't know why they chose so many alternates and that being an alternate is better than being a non-select.

Another person was offered a fully qualified RN position opening another alternate spot...I wish we knew how many have moved up on the alternate list...

Ok..so Jake and another person got offered a FQ job?? All I'm curious is why our recruiters haven't called and told us that yet. But oh well. Here's all the info I got about the alternate list.

They selected 46 people..40 for med/surg, 6 for OB. That number is the lowest number they project they need at this moment. That number can change and increase for any reason that would need more nurses. That's a reason they could tap into the alternate list. Or, people could be selected for a FQ position, which would open a position too.

Apparently there is two 'soft' lists..meaning they have lists for our preference...but there is only one OFFICIAL (hard) list that they will pick from. Number 1, 2 and 5 on the alt list are all OB. If spots open up, they will ask the people who are in line if they want the position, even if it med/surg.

Soooo...hope that helps. But that leaves us back at waiting for our recruiter to call :)

Great recap ^_^ I'm Randall, Alternate #1. I chose OB, I believe they will avoid confusion and chaos if they wait until all status notification letters are out, and possibly until everyone has accpted/declined positions offered before they start talking about alternates. Let's hope that's soon!

Oh and ps...my recruiter told me they only had 10 days to verbally accept/decline their acceptance. So that would be sometime late this week or early next week.

Hello Everyone

The name is Prince, From Boston, MA. I am Alternate #10 for Med-Surg. According to my recruiter, majority of the people on the Alternate list are already selected, but are placed on the Alternate list because there are no openings for COT.

Hey all, it's Tiffanyl!!! I love that this thread was started, thanks Hope! ;) I just talked to my recruiter yesterday and she said that all selectees have 5 duty days to accept or decline, meaning that all of them should accept or decline on or by 15 August! For all of us going through the Denver recruiter she said that the MSgt that deals with all of that and updating the alternate list numbers is on leave right now so it could take a little longer for us to find out! I am hoping we are all lower on the list than we think! :) I look forward to keeping in contact with all of you!
