Thank you! Congrats to you as well. Yes I have been working out 3-4 times per week. Now that it is official I plan to spend more of my time running being that that is my weak area. I signed the docs to begin the background check/security clearance process so hopefully that won't take too long.
I was just thinking the same thing about us being the only ones going in May. There is another WHNP going from the same recruiting command as me but other than that I think that it will be slim for nurses. I do know that there should be a lot of medical/dental students there as they usually complete COT during their summer break from school.
Thanks, do you mind posting your experience thus far? I'm a little nervous about attending COT during the summer. Did you go to where you were stationed directly following COT? If not, how long was that waiting period?
Is there a big difference in civilian critical care nursing and military nursing?
Have you been deployed yet?
I did COT June 2010. It was hot. Drink lots of water.
I went directly to San Antonio from cot. We graduated Friday and I checked in Monday.
There is a bid difference AF ICU from civilian. I would sum it up that my 12 hour shift is easier on my body, but I work more hours. Expect at least 7 shifts every 2 weeks.
I've deployed 2 times. Was scheduled to go again in April, but they redistributed taskings to share the wealth and mine got pulled this round. Deployment windows are currently 12 months "safe" at home then a 6 month window where you are vulnerable to be tasked to go.

Just wanted to start a post for the people going to COT in May of this year.
I am excited and nervous since I do not have any prior service experience. I am a critical care nurse and I will be going to Texas (Ft. Sam) after COT. I have been a critical care nurse going on 6 years now. Really excited to meet those who will be joining me.
