AIDS education attestation

Published

Dear Admin,

I am planning to apply for a nursing licensure in Washington state.I am internationally educated nurse from the philippines.I would like to ask regarding one of Washington's state board of nursing requirements. They are requiring to submit the AIDS education attestation. Is this really necessary?Because in Philippines,AIDS is part of our Communicable diseases subject. Can someone help me regarding this matter.

Thank you.

What do the BON application instructions say? Does it ask you to sign that you have the required education?

Hi,dishes!Thank you for replying to me. http://www.doh.wa.gov/portals/1/Documents/Pubs/669233.pdf this is the site where I saw the requirements. It is in number 4.I actually chose the Washington state for the licensing because its a lot cheaper compared to others. But when I saw that requirement,I got disappointed.Im not sure if that one is required to international nurses as well.

Thank you.

Don't go to another state because it is cheaper if you have no intention of living and working in the state, you will still have to fork out and meet new state's requirements and no guarantee that you will meet them

When you covered AIDS as part of communicable diseases in your nursing program did it cover " a minimum of seven hours of education in the prevention, transmission and treatment of AIDS. This includes the topics of etiology and epidemiology, testing and counseling, infectioncontrol guidelines, clinical manifestations and treatment, legal and ethical issues confidentiality, psychosocialissues, and special population considerations" If yes, then you have met the AIDS education requirements and you initial and date the section without any further training.

HI Dishes! Yes we did.But someone told me I should complete online courses on the recommended websites. That made me so confused.

Hi, Admin.sorry to bother you again.I finally decided to apply in Washington State Nursing Licensure.I just want to know if I need the "National Identifier Number".I do not have it.It is being asked in the form to be filled up for international applicants like me.Please help.

Thank you.

Hi :) we're in the same state and just started with the process, accordingly, it's ok if you don't have it, it's another process to obtain that number but you can do that later. Hope this helps ;) Good luck!

babymich_0922, BSN ,thank you for your reply..so they will start the process without this number?the problem is,i do not have plan yet to practice in US although my mom is there.I don't have a pending immigration application in US either.I just want to have an NCLEX at least.

thank you.

Oh I see, but I'm 100%sure that you can start the process and take the exam, don't know the pathway though, but a lot of friends did that and where able to take the exam without an SSN or immigrant status. Probably, you know someone from your school that already did this, and maybe he/she can help you.
