Does anyone have any information about the nursing program at American International College in Springfield, MA? I can't seem to find any information about the quality of their nursing program, NCLEX pass rate, etc. Anyone with any information please reply!

The nursing program at AIC is very good. It is a tough program but very good instructors. They are in the process of hiring a new director for the undergraduate program. The pass rates for all MA schools can be found here: http://www.mass.gov/?pageID=eohhs2subtopic&L=5&L0=Home&L1=Researcher&L2=Physical+Health+and+Treatment&L3=Nursing+Statistics&L4=National+Council+Licensure+Examinations+(NCLEX)+by+School&sid=Eeohhs2
Thank you so much! I looked up their pass rate and it's 85%. Not as good as some of the other schools in the area but I'm sure the pass rate is also subjective. I will be applying there as well as the other schools but I obviously want to weigh my potential options. Are you currently a student in their program?

In 2007, they had a 94% pass rate with a bigger class. The numbers will fluctuate a little year to year. I know a few nurses who went there as well. It's a good program.
Thanks for your input. I'm also trying to decide whether I want a bachelors or associate degree. I already have a BA in psychology but I think it would be valuable to have one in nursing as well (for job mobility).

I am presently a nursing student at AIC that is in my 3rd year of the 4 year nursing program. At AIC the program consists of: Class room lectures, clinical experience in addition to plenty of clinical paperwork and labs with revalidations to evaluate knowledge acquire.
Nursing AIC professors have been great so far in my AIC experience. I have encountered only 2 of the ample sized group of nursing professors I dislike.
I would certainly look into going on a tour of the school and ask what they offer to nursing students. Good luck on your search! I hope you hit upon a school that will correspond with your requests and assist you in becoming successful.

Hi,
I am an AIC alumni. I can say that the clinicals are very important in an undergrad nursing program. AIC's were very good and prepared me well for the real world. I have worked with some fantastic associate's nurses, but I think they have less opportunities for clinical experience due to the shorter program. I don't know much about the pass/ fail rates. I have never followed them. I truly feel that you get out of the program, what you put into it. Always keep the lines of communication open with the professors and make school your number one priority and you will do well. :grad:
Best of luck!
Thank you all for your input! I did get accepted to AIC's program but I am still weighing my options...
