Agencies in the philippines

Published

Does anyone know what an agency usually charges for a nurse who wants to work in the USA? I have a friend that was quoted between 500 & 750 us dollars. How do you find a reputable agency?

thanks

agencies don't charge anything..they even usually refund all the expenses for the exams you took - IELTS, NCLEX.its usual for the agencies here not to charge anything. suggest you try looking for another agency that doesn't charge anything. did they say what the $500-750 is for?

another problem you'll have is the long long wait for visas. if you just start now its more than five years waiting and a job offer now may not be valid then..

why not try canada?

before anyone does anything, you need to be very aware that there is a retrogression going on. expected wait for even a chance at a green card is going to be longer than five years. many of these agencies are hoping that you will sign with them and then cancel after waiting for so long so that they will get the cancellation fee that is in the contract.

if you wishing to work in the us, why is one going to look for an agency that is located in the philippines? that just means that you are going to be sold to the highest bidder in many cases. if you wish to work in any country, and are going to use an agency, then use one in the country where you actually wish to work.

no one should be charged anything;if the agency is charging, then a very big red flag should be in front of your eyes. especially if they are charging before doing anything. the fees for getting things done for immigration is about 10 times that, there is no reason at all for them to charge a fee of the $500 to $750. it just tells me that something is quite fishy with them and you will never see your money again.

Please do your research first. There are lots of forums online regarding agencies that sponsor nurses who want to work in the US but because of retrogression there are but a few agencies around. Backtrack some forum discussions here in allnurses.com. You might find answers...

What suzanne4 said is very much true that you're being sold out to the highest bidder. For every nurse recruit, the recruiter gets paid even without you knowing it...so you end up paying the recruiter again even if all fees have already been paid by the US employer.

Check the POEA website for a list of licensed POEA agencies before shelling out money. I, too, have been a victim of a scrupulous agency. I paid more than what your friend has been quoted and believe me, I'm now the one who's running after them. :banghead:

But then again, some of the POEA-licensed agencies even if they're in good standing, also have their money-making schemes. It's best that you do your research first and learn from others.
