hey all,
I just got commisioned on saturday. I'm a single mother of a 2 yr old and a planner. I will be going to COT in March. then going to keesler for NTP then to my assignment in Eglin. I know my daughter and boyfriend are able to go to NTP with me, but how am I suppose to entertain a 2 yr old in a hotel room. Eglin is 2-3 hrs from keesler debating on driving back and fourth and letting my boyfriend and daughter set up a house for us in FL we r planning on living off base. Anyone have any suggestions or been in the same situation. How intense is NTP can I drive back and fourth a couple days a week? I just feel they would be more comfortable in a house and it would be alot easier to move only once.
Thanks KERRI

Having them go to FL so you can work on learning your job without distraction sounds like the best idea. Plus, you'll get to miss the cable guy appointment, the electric, the phone, etc. Have the BF do all of the work.
As a single mom, you really need to start figuring out who is responsible for your daughter's care in your absence and get it all on paper. You need a Family Care Plan and any first sergeant will help you get it done. I know Eglin doesn't support the ops tempo like we do at WHMC, but you could end up deploying sooner than you'd expect, so that Care Plan is very important to get established ASAP.
Thanks for the advice!! The family care plan is already done :) Just need to figue out housing! whats ops tempo?

OPSTEMPO=Operations Tempo= speed of operations at a given time. To most that means the current level of operations that a given branch is functioning. High OPTEMPO means more deployments, missions, tasks, exercises etc.
Hope this helps
