Even if you're overall GPA isn't as great, it seems that all the nursing schools I've talked to want to see a good score on the pre-reqs. Especially if you're returning to school to get your nursing degree. You can always apply to ADN programs and BSN programs and take the BSN if you get accepted and the ADN if you don't...

OK, I'm about to plow forward with getting my BSN. This is a career change for me, with no prior nursing experience, so will be getting the BSN without the ADN first. My dilemma is that I want to remain competetive with the job force upon graduating so hence wanting to get the BSN. The program I want to apply to is competetive (what isn't now a days) and I've heard that they like to see candidates overall cum gpa on all undergrad work at 3.0 to apply but heard they like to see a 3.4 for their top cadidates. Well my undergrad cum is 2.9!
I'm about to start my nursing pre reqs next semester, Biology, Devel. Phych, Sociology then onto Chem, A&P, micro..etc. If I did my calculations right, I would need to get all A's from here on out on everything I take and that would only get me to a 3.26! I guess I'm feeling a little undefeated attempting to be a straight A student with 3 kids under 8 for the next 3 semesters....
I guess I could always do the local community college route and get an ADN first and then do the bridge to BSN after? Does anyone know if they just look at your RN gpa when applying to the BSN bridge programs?
Thanks for any insight/advice. :redpinkhe
