advice for a pre-nursing student? (UTA)

U.S.A. Texas

Hello allnurses.com! I am new to the site and hope you can help.

I am graduating HS this spring and am going to UTA this upcoming fall. With me, I will bring in 28 non-science credit hours and 8 science hours. I will have my CNA and phlebotomy certifications as well. I know this is my calling and would LOVE any tips to making myself more competitive for nursing school based on your experiences. Thanks in advance!

well you seem like you have a lot going for you already, I am a pre nursing student and will be applying this June for Spring 09 entrance :) My suggestion is keep your grades up and try to keep a GPA avg over 3.5 to be competitive. Really try to make all A's in your science Pre reqs. A few of my friends had a 4.0 science pre req when they applied and they got in and when I apply my science pre req will be a 4.0 as well. But people do get in with lower, it just kind of assures you the interview from what I've heard, but after that the interview is all up to you! I'm sure they will be impressed since you have your CNA license to, I am getting mine this April :) And dont overwhelm yourself! Oh and when you take Micro with Dr. Badon study!!!!!!!!! She is the only one that teaches Micro at UTA! Other than that I'm sure you'll be fine goodluck
