Hi everyone! A little background info- I recently graduated with my ADN and am already nearly halfway through my BSN program (I was able to start early and already have a BA in another field). At the moment, I'm working as a nursing assistant, but my hospital will not hire me as an RN until I've completed my BSN next summer. I have friends in the same situation as me, and they've been able to land hospital jobs (at the hospitals they've been working at as NA's, which is quite discouraging for me). So I've been shopping around and applying to jobs that say that they will accept associate degree RN's, although they prefer BSNs (I know my chances are slim, but since they don't require a BSN per se, I'm giving it a shot!). Will having another Bachelor's degree and being halfway done with my BSN help my chances? Has anyone here been in a similar situation? I know it's not the end of the world to wait a few more months, but I'm growing impatient and eager to start practicing as an RN! I have actually been called by NSLIJ for interviews, but I've been reading on here that they don't hire new associate RN's. It's quite discouraging to read and I'm wondering why they even called me then (although their listings do technically say: "Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred. Must be enrolled in an accredited program within 24 months of employment, if hired after September 1, 2010 and obtain a BSN Degree within five (5) years of employment date."). Just looking for some advice and reassurance, I guess. Thanks everyone!:)
