Hey all...I need some advice from you guys...my husband and I are going to have Invitro Fertilization (IVF):heartbeat in March. I'm quitting my current job in February so I can have a peaceful mind for this procedure and working where I work is not peaceful ! I'll need to find a job in April but will be pregnant (positive thoughts). I'm thinking about looking for a clinic job or per diem home care (I'm currently an ICU nurse).
Anyway...my questions are: has anyone been pregnant while interviewing and still got the job? when would I tell the prospective employer? does anyone have any other suggestions for types of employment? do home care agencies hire with no home care experience?
I don't want to create an uncomfortable working environment by starting a job and 5 months later telling them that I'm 6 months pregnant. I'm leaving my job because of an uncomfortable working environment :argue: and also because I don't truly like the hospital environment in general.
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Hey sue I cant really advise you since Im still a student. I just wanted to say good luck, also last time I checked there are a lot of places that need nurses. You dont have to tell them youre pregnant really, but I would just give them a heads up that youve been trying for a really long time. Also since its a per diem position I think you will be ok. Good luck again, Im sure someone on this board has great advice.

you will get a job it is illegal not to hire someone because they are or may be expecting... at least in MA and in MD it is.
Have you considered looking for a job right now that way you will be done with orientation when you are Prego? That why the explanation would be easier on you and by then your benefits would have kicked in and you wouldn't have to worry about the cost of In vitro if that was a concern.
Wishing you the best of luck
