Advice for license reinstatement

I struggled with addiction and failed out of TPAPN in 2019. The State of Texas asked me to voluntarily surrender my license...which I did. There was a preponderance of evidence that I had violated the NPA via drug use and a felony assault charge.

Fast forward to 2025. I've been clean and sober for 5+ years. I have had steady employment with the same employer for over 5yrs. I have satisfied all of the requirements the BON set forth to get my license back. I finished my deferred probation and the charges were dismissed. 

My question is two-fold... 1. Has anyone successfully been able to get their license reinstated after voluntarily surrendering it? How did the process work? I obviously need a lawyer.

And 2. Should I go through the process first to have my record sealed? I'm still not sure if it's even possible given the type of charge. If it can't be sealed...do I have a snowball's chance in h3ll to get my license back with a felony on it? 

I would love to get my license back and teach psych nursing at our college here. I have my BS in psychology and I'm working on my MS in counseling to get my LCDC certification.
