RN and CNA's are totally different level's of Nursing. To be a CNA the minimum requirements here in Iowa are 75hr certification and/or successful pass both the (State) written and skills test.
-if you think you have enough healthcare expirience and know whats expected of a cna, then you can chose to challenge the tests (both skills and written)
-If you can't, then you have to go to a community college and take the course. Around Des Moines, DMACC will be yur best option (they have a month or two waiting list), but if you have the money, just go to mercy and bypass the waiting list!
hope this makes sence, good luck on your endeavours!
I am currently @DMACC for the first CNA class - then there is a 2nd CNA (advanced CNA) there are state exams after the first CNA class and I know, for me anyway, to get into Nursing school @DMACC, I have to take both CNA classes. I snagged the last seat for the ACNA class this semester, so it's def. busy and fills up fast. I would just call. There are several campuses to take it at. It's cheap and so far I am doing well in my class! Hope that Helps. :wink2:

I would like to take the 75 hour CNA Class in Des Moines. Is DMAAC the best place to do that? Can someone give me some advice?
I believe the 75 hour is the best route to go correct?
Any input would be most helpful.
I would like to do CNA work -- not RN work.
Thanks so much in advance!
