Hello school nurses ? have any of you left acute care in the hospital with older patients and gone to school nursing? What's the learning curve?
I am interviewing to be a substitute nurse next week. I hope to learn a lot and get a full time job in the future ? I am excited and hoping for the best

Hi! You hit us at an awkward time. Most of us won't be back until next week or later.
We value you with acute care experience as you have a well-developed sense of what is "normal" and what is not. Just like you memorized the "normal" values for adults, you can easily adapt to school-age if you look up what "normal" is. I totally wouldn't worry about that.
There's a lot of good advice already here for what to expect in an interview - you can use the search function to the upper right.
Best of luck! Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the reply! I have been looking at some posts and it seems a lot of people want to get into school nursing. Most people seem to have some pediatric experience though, so I have worried I won't be considered a good candidate. Your advice makes me feel better. Thanks!

Nah. I mean...it's good to have it. But you know how to be a nurse. So all you need to learn is how your district wants it done.
