Hi everyone!
I'm currently a sophomore at Cornell University but I've been thinking of transferring to a nursing school in BC, around the Vancouver area (or maybe Toronto). I'm a Canadian citizen but I've done most of my schooling in the US so I'm quite unfamiliar with the nursing school application process in Canada. I've done some research on the main nursing schools (UBC, BCIT, Langara, etc.) and understand the entrance requirements of each. By the time I apply, I'll have 50+ school credits, 300+ clinical volunteer hours, and maybe an EMT-B certification and work experience.
To anyone who's applied to nursing school or transferred from the US, how was your experience like? What can I do to stand out on my applications?

Hii. I think that the Ontario Universities Application Centre is a good start for you.
But, before you transfer to a BSN program in BC, check the program itself just because of major difference between the US. Some States are lenient with Canadian education but not others like Cali on their rigorous assessment of transcript.
For instance, the US curriculum required their students to complete theory & clinical hours concurrently in Medical, Surgical, Psychiatrics, Obstetrics & Pediatrics, while in some Canadian Province I found that is not always the case since the set-up for placements are generalized unless you request specific placement and depends on availability.

. My question is how do I go about transferring my RN back to Canada and I’m already mainly nursing trained in Canada however just did 10 courses in the US for completion classes for the BSN. Does anybody know the process and will I have to go back to school in Canada?I actually had a question to a similar situation such as yourself. I’m a Canadian resident did an RPN program in Ontario did the bridge program in Toronto Ontario and then transferred my credits through CGSNF to the states wrote the NCLEX exam and then registered with a Aspen University to complete my BS and which I completed successfully. My question is how do I go about transferring my RN back to Canada and I’m already mainly nursing trained in Canada however just did 10 courses in the US for completion classes for the BSN. Does anybody know the process and will I have to go back to school in Canada (Toronto)?

Hi. I wonder if you asked the I.e. College of Nurses of Ontario already and what did they say***
Although you started most of your undergraduate BSN credits in ON which is approved by CNO, you graduated with 10 courses in a US school and licensed RN in the States. CNO still needed to assess if those credits are comparable + evidence of nursing practice and most international education possibly needed to go through ***NNAS.
Yes I’m aware now. I just think the CNO always finds gaps and it’sa money grabber. NNAS is in Toronto abs they want you to pay $650 for the evaluation.

hey,
I wonder, how did the process of transfering go. Were you able to transfer to Canada?
I am currently in the process now, funny you asked. But, yes you can because the NCLEX is the same for both Canada and the USA. You have to do the process through NNAS for Canada. There might be "Gaps" so you might have to take a course or whatever the CNO requests but it's pretty much standard as I compared my classes to my friends who went to Ryerson U.
thanks for respond.
