I have an interview coming of for the masters program for CRNA at Adventist University of Health and Sciences in Orlando Florida. (ADU) If anyone has previously interviewed at this school and could give me any pointers on what they ask it would be greatly appreciated. I know some schools ask a lot of clinical questions and some do not. They state the interview is approx 10-15mins. This is my first CRNA interview so I am extremely nervous. Anyone who can help greatly appreciated.
Im really excited and nervous all in one. I have an interview on the 28th also. I received the email about the assessment test that we have to take right before the actual interview...Guess they're doing something different this year because my friend that interviewed last year told me she didnt have to take an assessment test.
Good luck guys!
My GPA was 3.1 and I took a graduate patho class. I have my CCRN, achieved a 312 on the GRE (161 Verbal/151 Quant/4.0 Writing), and had 1yr 10 mo of surgical/medical ICU at my application time. was also Relief Charge and a Preceptor. 36 hrs shadowing. ADU was my first choice but I also got into FIU with my stats.
Thank you RNMimi14 for replying!!! My GPA is a 3.0 but I am still in nursing school. I plan on applying to CRNA schools in 2019. I am just trying to do everything that I can possibly do now in order to prepare for later. What else would you suggest that I do to boost up my application? How did you study for your GRE? Also where did you take the graduate patho class at?
I was accepted into the DNP program. I believe they no longer offer a Masters program. I suggest that you make sure you're doing well in Sciences and core nursing classes, GPA is important. I had to work harder to make sure my GPA wasn't held against me, although I was asked about it in my interviews. If you're able to, get into an ICU straight out of school so that you start gaining your experience right away, and can be able to take the CCRN after 1 year of bedside. I've heard of situations where schools look for more experienced nurses but there are always exceptions who get in with only 1 yr of experience. During your ICU experience, take the sickest patients and don't be afraid to jump into leadership. Schools want nurses with a large body of knowledge who are involved so precepting, becoming charge nurse, and joining the Unit Council are all application boosters. I studied for my GRE with Magoosh, an online program with videos (I highly suggest it) and I took my grad class at UCF
What did they ask you during your interview about your GPA? Which program are you going with if you haven't already started and don't mind me asking? Thank you so much for your input! I will definitely be working hard towards this goal. Did you complete the CCRN before your interview or after? I'm afraid that I won't have enough time to complete it before I start applying. For the patho grad class what was the course abbreviation and number? I tried searching for it online but couldn't find it.
