To my ICU nurses, I just started working on adult ICU unit that involves all specialties. It’s a community hospital and we are the only ICU unit in the hospital. With that being said, you have to have knowledge in everything including cardiac, neuro, GI, pulmonary, GU. DKA,Etc. My question is, can someone recommend icu pocket guide book that talks about the diseases, how to treat it and what to look for? I want something that I can put in my pocket for a quick reference. I hope something like that even exist. Thanks in advanced.

How about Fast Facts for Critical Care? You can find them at www.kathywhite.com It is a little bigger than a pocket guidebook because it is a 3 ring binder setup, however it could be bound and then call it what you like. Just a thought. Not sure of other ones out there.

Someone I work with has this one: https://www.amazon.com/Critical-Care-Notes-3e-Clinical/dp/0803676697/ref=sr_1_3?gclid=Cj0KCQjwocPnBRDFARIsAJJcf94vBClX0Jo_ebrSsH4igyY6oiHPDfx-IC0b6RFfRb33_fmA2JQd00YaAjV_EALw_wcB&hvadid=195405803411&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9003297&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=13609001584306172175&hvtargid=kwd-313607910476&hydadcr=9835_9767298&keywords=critical+care+nursing+pocket+guide&qid=1559325686&s=gateway&sr=8-3
It's a little big for a pocket, but appears to be the most portable option. I also work in a single ICU for a small hospital so we see everything. I've learned a lot by reading through the consult notes from all the physicians/PAs/NPs on the treatment team. I check out UpToDate at work, and google things. Easier than carrying a bulky pocket reference.
omg yes that's the one I ended buying and you are so right, it is soo helpful. No regrets at all. It is nice and small for pocket but full of details. But thanks for the suggestion.
