Specialties LTC Directors

Hello please I need advise on this. I been RN for less than a year but I was LVN for 4 years

I am in delima of choice. I been working in SNF as a unit manager for the past 9 months because I was unable to get job at acute setting so finally when I got offer to be ADON at the SNF at the same time I got offer at ACUTE hospital. Salery is almost the same .I love the people I work with at SNF but if I stay in SNF as ADON I know am going to stay in SNF for so long. If I choose Acute I felt like I will get more knowledge and more benefits but stressful. What would yoy choose if u were in my spot.

Specializes in long trm care.

Get the hell out of LTC!

Specializes in RN, Staff Developer, ADON.

It depends on what you want your future to look like! I have worked in both an acute care and SNF for many years. I took the acute care position mainly because I didn't want to work 5 days a week, but I quickly learned that I missed my little old people. I love my position as an ADON! And I would NEVER go back to the hospital.
