ADN

Here's my dilemma. I've been a nurse for 35 years and have never gone above the ADN level because frankly, I've never seen a need to do that. Nursing has been good to me from a financial standpoint but the stress has probably shaved a few years from my life.

I saw an interview with Andre Agessi a couple years ago where he admitted to the public on national tv that he has always hated Tennis. How can you be so good at something while passionately hating it? That's me and nursing.

I've been out of the hands-on clinical area for 20 years and did health coaching for a Medicare population with a large insurance company. I was there for 11 years but I left that position to move to the east coast with my partner who was transferred.

I did a good job for them, they loved me, and my references are exemplary. Problem? There are few positions like the one I had and everybody now wants a BSN. I'm nearly 60 and have no desire to do that. I am a relic and too old to return to the clinical area. Because I have been non clinical my skills have rusted over. Non clinical jobs are just as stressful as clinical. Like everyone else in this profession they only want blood.

Any ideas on good alternatives to clinical jobs for ADNs? Hell, I would even do a flu shot clinic for a few months or maybe give testosterone shots to athletes if I could find something that does only that. Consulting maybe? Writing? I'm at a loss here.

I've also considered MDS but no one will take you without experience.

Thanks for any input.
