Hello everyone!!!!
Can someone tell me what is the difference between the ADN degree and Diploma degree in nursing? Is one better than the other?

An ADN (or ASN or AAS) is a degree usually attached to education at a community college or 2-year college.
Diploma nursing programs are usually attached to a local hopsital or network of hospitals.
Both forms of education can be excellent. Check NCLEX passing rates. Talks with past and present student of a program to get the real 411.
If you plan on pursuing higher education, make sure your classes from the diploma program and ADN program are transferrable.
Make sure your school is properly accredited. Do a search here on this topic. There are MANY old threads that can provide you with a WEALTH of information on this very topic.
Good luck and Good fortune to you.

Sunnyjohn summed it up well.
I choose to go to a diploma program b/c I wasn't quite ready for BSN and all the other ADN programs wasn't good like the diploma program. I don't think that there will be any difference and what you would be able to do as a nurse. The school that I want to go to nclex pass rates are actually higher than those at the BSN program. I do plan on going further in my career and I know that it would transfer to another school.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the information. I love this site.

In my state, diploma nurses performed higher on both the HESI and NCLEX than ADN or BSN students.
