ADN or BSN

 I'm currently working on my pre-reqs for the ADN program now being offered at Gwinnett Technical College. I've heard conflicting information from people about being a Registered BSN or ADN. Will I be able to find a job or fairly compete for one with just an ADN, or will I be wasting my time? I was told that more hospitals are wanting a BSN. Any opinions..Advice?

I can tell you that I have not ran into this problem as an ADN. I have two jobs, and I still see LPNs getting hired. So, I do not see ADNs "going away." I feel like this. I believe that everyone should strive for the BSN. I will go back to school, but not for the money (it is only $0.50-$1 more/hr hardly worth the thousands you pay to get the BSN), not for the chance to go into management (I've been in management, NOT again). No, I want my BSN because of the education. It is a very personal choice and a great debate between BSN vs. ASN. I can say that I work with a lot of nurses and one thing is for sure....unless they TELL me that they have a BSN...I'd never know the difference.

I wish you all the best.
