I have never heard of using or seen the use of Adderall for Bipolar D/O. Was this a patient? If it was a patient what other meds were they on and are you sure they gave the complete history with an accurate diagnosis?

Yes, I've seen it done. It gets used when either the depressive phase makes it difficult for the pt to get out of bed (and antidepressants aren't helping with that) or in general to counteract the sedating effects of some other meds.

Amphetamines are given at times for treatment of a depressive episode that is not lifting with treatment of antidepressants or other mood stabilizing medications.
