Acute Care clinicals

Specialties NP

For all those ACNP's out there, I am about to start my first clinical rotations and was wondering if any one has any suggestions as to where I should go? I eventually want to end up in the ER where I have spent most of my nursing career. I was thinking a hospitalist preceptor might be beneficial, although I can't see myself doing this as an NP. I am also interested in interventional cardiology, has anyone ended up going into this area? Thanks for the advice, Moe.

I think its important that you stretch yourself in clinicals - that's the time to explore other areas. ER is my nursing background too and I did about 100-150 hours in the ER for clinicals in my adult health CNS program. However, I did do some office/hospital work which is actually what I ended up doing - lol.

Do you plan to do a PNP program too so that you can see kids in the ER? This is always a sticky point for those of us that can only see adults. Currently, I'm enrolled in a peds CNS so that I can be more valued in the ER.
