Hi everyone, I've been accepted to start SLU's ACNP program in August. Could you tell me how the job is in your area and where you live. I realize that ACNP is more of a urban area type of job and I live in a very rural area of southern missouri....I'm willing to locate but just want to see where throughout the country the jobs are located...
Thanks in advance!

I live in Upstate NY. As far as I know, we don't have any ACNPs in the regional medical center I work in. We do, however, have many ANPs and FNPs working in the ED, Urgent Care, ICU, and inpatient units. I am sure this is partially because we don't have any local ACNP programs, but we have several FNP/ANP programs. I have heard that regulations may change requiring ACNP to work in acute care, but that isn't the case here at this point. Actually, my advisor at school insists that these NPs are working out of their scope since FNP/ANP are primary care specialties. Good luck to you.
