Acedemic or general ielts for Canada?

Hi, since the US is still close, I was rooting to apply for a canadian immigrant visa. I heard that ielts is required, particularly general training for the immigration purposes. I took my academic ielts recently and passed it with a high bandscore. Can i still use the academic ielts to apply for immigrant visa in canada? or do i have to take the ielts again and this time take the general training? Won't the canadian embassy acknowlege my academic ielts? please help me. I am really, really confused! thanks so much for your time :)

They may accept Academic IELTS although website only states General however Academic is a requirement of the College

Yes you can use your ACADEMIC IELTS result for Immigrant visa processing and the Canadian Embassy requires that IELTS should not be more than 1 year since passing such exam. The good thing with the ACADEMIC module of the IELTS is that you could also use that for your RN registration here in Canada. So it s like hitting 2 birds with one stone.. get my point?

Although the website states that General training module is required, they will accept ACADEMIC IELTS module for visa processing. But you have to give them your personal copy of the IELTS result for visa process.. That's what I did for my visa process.

Did you apply for visa processing on your own or you availed the services of a consultancy agency? i really am new to these things and i don't know how and where to start my canadian immigration visa processing. Were you interviewed by the consule? Thank you so much for your answer/s.

Thank you so much for replying. I really am having second thoughts in what ielts module to take. I don't want to pay for two exams. It's so expensive. on the other side, i am afraid that the embassy won't accept my academic ielts..

I did mention that ACADEMIC module is accepted by the Canadian embasy did I? That's what I did. I applied on my own, I was not required to undergo an interview with the consul. Go to cic.gc.ca all the steps are mentioned in there on how to apply for a visa. You don't have to take GT module for visa application, your ACAD Ielts is more than enough to satisfy the embassy that you are competent in the english language! As long as you get the band score of 6.5 on all categories you get the maximum points for language category. )Ou just have to provide the embassy your personal copy. But for your RN registration you have to let the testing center furnish a copy to the regulatory body in which you decide to register. Goodluck. I have used my ACADEMIC ielts result in my visa application and got a visa!

Academic is required by the college of RN and all relevant information can be found on the college website. Same goes for CIC all relevant information can be found there and the paperwork is easy to complete plus there is usually some guide on how to complete the paperwork

YES you can use your ACADEMIC. IELTS for you Federal skilled worker visa requirement! I took my ACADEMiC IELTS and that's what I used when I applied for an immigrant visa (although I had to give up my personal copy of my ACAD. IELTS). IF you don't believe me then go ahead take a GT training. You know why the GT module is the one required by the embassy? That's because its EASIER!!! The embassy requires applicants to provide an english test such as IELTS (ACAD/ GT) is because they want to test the english competency of emmigrants wanting to go here in canada! How will you get a job or establish yourself here if your english aint good! And how will you expect a High school graduate or garde schooler pass an ACADEMIC module of the IELTS? ACAD is for professionals and University Students, thats is why the embassy only requires a GT module as a requirement since its easier and is only testing basic Englsih. So, if you did get a 7 on all bands in the ACAD module that only means that you are competent in the Englsih language. That's why they have the requirement of english proficiency. ACADEMiC module is higher than that of the GT module so why won't the Canadian embassy accept those results? They accepted mine. Academic is better coz you can also use it for RN registration any where in Canada. Take it from me, the embassy ACCEPTS. ACADEMIC. Version of the IELTS!!

I suggest you look at the specific College of Nurses (board of nursing) in the province that you wish to be registered.
