ACCEPTED and WORRIED!

Published

I am on cloud 9.

I just got accepted to the school of my choice. I am ecstatic beyond belief right now.

I would have been devastated if I didn't get accepted, even though I can reapply, I just would have been so crushed.

I am 19 years old, single mom of an 8 month old. I am currently a CNA on my way to become a RN! I thank God for getting accepted into the program after studying my ass of for the TEAS and passing all my pre reqs with As!

Now my concern:

Everyone in nursing school scares me from how hard it is. I get that it is no joke. I am the book smart kinda girl who always has my head in the books studying for weeks, if not months, before an exam. Though, I hear how common it is for people to fail out of Nursing school. I consider myself to be an "average" student, but the way others describe it to be, is as if you can't be "average" you have to be a genius.

So I post this topic to you Nursing Students for your experience. I get the nursing is TOUGH. For goodness sake, it's medical and involves saving lives..of course it'd be tough. But is something that "average" students cannot get through. I know that prrobably sounds dumb..but I would love to hear true stories and experiences. I am so ecstatic, yet so scared.

Anyway to prepare myself?

Thanks so much in advance.

I think its in D but double check!

Did you take it once or twice? I only took mine once. I was kicking myself in the head bc I wasn't sure if I wanted to do the TEAS all over. I know I would hate myself forever if I didn't get accepted, bc I would have thought, "If only I retook it."

Thank God!

Sounds good!! =] Hopwfully we'll distinguish each other amongst the other 46 students. What building is orientation in again? M? or B?

Yes I took it twice...the first time I didn't have the study book so I studied all the wrong math and did ok in science. After 2 more weeks of reteaching myself basic math and some more science I took it again and did better! I think people should start studying 6 months in advance for the TEAS because its so random that you need to cover everything to have the best chance :)

Heh, I am a fourth semester student about to graduate in May '12. I have 4 children (18, 17, 13 and 7) and a husband; two of my children are headed to college this year! My plate has been very full for the past couple of years.

I attended a diploma school of nursing and it has been very rewarding. I am not "super" smart, I guess just a little above average, and I am finishing school with great confidence. Nursing school has been challenging (as it should be) and there were times that I wanted to quit, to be quite honest. If this is a career that you really want, then you have to be prepared to work for it. Not only did I attend school full time and still have to participate in my family, but I also worked part time. I am not going to say that my grades have been all A's (there have been some C's :( but I will tell you that I also wasn't willing to caste my family to the side completely to get A's (you make compromises when you have a family). Anyway, I have passed all of my courses and it is the most rewarding feeling ever! You can do this, you just need to stay motivated (i.e., FOCUSED) and understand that this time will go by quickly. Anything worth having is worth working for and nursing is worth it (at least to me, I LOVE clinicals!). I plan to continue on to MSN but at least I can do that portion online. I say all of this to say, you can make it through this but you have to BRING IT and do not let anyone tell you different.

Definitely.

I studied 3 months prior and still wish I would have done better.

Even though I got a 100% on the math, the science was just DISGUSTING.

I got a 78 I think..or 72. but it was no joke.
