Accepted to Duke Nurse Anesthesia Fall 2016

Hello! This forum is for anyone that has been accepted into Duke's Nurse Anesthesia program to start this coming Fall. Just trying to connect with some others!

Congratulation on your acceptance. Do you mind stating what your statistics where when you applied...bsn GPA, years experience, certification?

Hey VARN2016. I'm also starting this Fall, and I'd be happy to share (it's something I always like seeing to know how I need to prepare):

-BSN from academically competitive university

-GPA 3.9

-2 years MICU experience

-CCRN (and BLS/ACLS/PALS prior to applying)

-Lots of committee work

-GRE 311 (for what it's worth...)

This, of course, is not a perfect combination. I worried for a while that 2 years experience wouldn't be enough, but I feel confident in my experience and I think my interview went pretty well. I can only speak for myself, but I know that there are many people more qualified than me that were accepted and some that were not.

The most important piece to the puzzle is how well you and the school mesh. If you are dead-set on a particular program, let them know. That really can make a huge difference.
