I just found out I'm accepted into Adelphi B.S in Nursing as a transfer student!!!!
I graduate from Suffolk community college next week with an AAS in liberal arts-all prerequisites but microbiology completed which I'm doing this summer 3.6 cumulative GPA
I have noticed that many of the people on here have posted exceptionally high Teas V scores, and while I commend all of you that just was not the case for me. In fact I had to take the test twice. Also, if so many people are actually receiving the scores they are claiming, then how come the national average falls in the 64th percentile. Don't get me wrong, I'm not calling anyone a liar. Maybe all the advanced people just come here to blog...
My first time taking the teas V I took it on the computer at an ATI testing site. It cost me 125.00 dollars and I had to drive all the way to queens. The second time I took it at Adelphi as a written exam for only 50 dollars. Taking it as a written was a lot easier for me in the math section. I could skip a question and flip back to it at the end with all my previous work written right next to question. I didn't have to waist time looking back and forth at the screen and my notes, nor did I waist time rewriting a problem because it was already written for me on the paper. I guess its just a matter of preference. So the first time I tested my scores were well enough for The college of new Rochelle, and all but the math was good enough for Adelphi. I was only a couple points short. The want you to score a 57 on math
Scores:
individual score-64.7 Proficient
Reading 69.9
Math 53.3
Science 64.6
English 70.0
I was extremely disappointed in myself. I said to myself if I blow this again then ill just have to cross the Throgs neck bridge everyday and pay a toll
(I'm from Long island NY)
I studied SMARTER NOT HARDER the second time around. I bought the Teas V practice exams instead of taking random math quizzes on line. The first time I used these TEAS V index cards I got from Barnes and Noble. The were like $30 and 70% helpful. I had a Barnes and Nobles gift card from and figured I would spend them wisely. I didn't feel too wise afterwards. They didn't have a lot of good current material. My teas V test at Adelphi was almost exactly like the practice test I took. Also the second time around I only focused on the math because Adelphi takes the highest scores.
Test 2- which got me my seat in the fall 2014 BSN program
Individual score 63.3- I realize it's worse then last time
Reading- 69.0 exactly the same and I didn't study
Math 63.3!!!!!!!!! I am proud of my score- I have A's in /chem 100 at suff comm college/ and Algebra/B+ in stats...
Science- 54.2
English 73.3
If I can do it so can you. I am 25. I was a high school drop out and a juvenile delinquent that turned her life around

I know this is a couple of years old but thank you for your insight. It's helped me with my journey getting into the nursing program at Adelphi. By any chance do you have any tips on how I can do well on the teas exam?
