accelerated nursing or bsn?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I'm currently a student at a community college and I just sent in my TAG(transfer admission guarantee) application to UC Riverside, but I want to become a nurse instead. i almost have all the prereqs done to apply for the ADN program here at my school.

alot of people I work with (I'm an ER Tech) are all college students who have completed their prereqs and have applied to several nursing programs and didn't get in! a girl who works with me has applied to 2 different schools 3 times each! and i'm starting to think I don't stand a chance, especially because our school goes by lottery.

should i just get my bachelor's degree from UC Riverside (if my TAG gets approved) and enter an accelerated BSN program after? or should I keep applying to several ADN programs and go on to a RN-BSN program?

I eventually want to become a Nurse Anesthetist, so I NEED a BSN not an ADN. Any advice is appreciated...I'm just so frustrated on what to do:confused:

Do all the schools in your area operate by lottery? If so I'd definitely consider getting your BSN first. Around here the university programs are way easier to get into than the community colleges so why not just do nursing rather than a generic bachelors? I would still apply to the CCs because its quick and you will be able to make a decent living while continuing your education. In my area they go by gpa/entrance scores so that was good for me because there are a ton of applicants every year. Good luck.
