Accelerated BSN Program at SUNY Stony Brook July, 2009

Published

Hello-

I am trying to see if I can get in touch with some fellow Stony Brook class 2010 future students about some details of the program. It doesn't appear in our acceptance packet that they give us any info about getting supplies (uniforms, equipment), which I was surprised about because I know other schools provide a detailed list of the necessities in their acceptance packets. Also, I am trying to find some roommates for an off campus apartment/house in Stony Brook (I won't have a car). Is anyone else in the same boat and starting to think about what they're going to do for living?

Basically would just like to connect with some of my soon-to-be classmates so we can pick each other's brains.

Thanks!

I am not in the program but graduated from sbu and took classes in hsc(ur future home). the health science center(hsc) has their own bookstore called matthew's. its on sbu's website. i think if u put in your course #,etc it tells u what u need for each class. the bookstore has uniforms, stethoscopes, etc. probably most of the supplies u will need. as for off campus housing...i would suggest finding a place where the bus runs bc in suffolk the bus service is horrible. i would suggest lving on campus. I dont drive and getting around is hard but living on campus if i did need to go somewhere the school bus took us to get groceries and go to the mall on weekends. and the public bus on week days goes as well. students get a discount for public transp.. there are usually signs posted w/in the hsc and hospital about a fellow student looking for a roommate. i hope this helps a little. if u started the program in july then i guess u already know all of this:D

Me too!!:) Good luck. I hope we both get in. :nurse:. Its a great school. I am looking into other schools b/c its the degree that matters in the end but I luv sbu b/c its my alma mater.

Heyy I just sent in my application..i wanted to get an idea on what everyone's volunteer experience and GPAs are. I have a 3.585 in my major and a 3.979 in my prereqs...but i still need chem( i thought they would accept an AP grade) and am taking microbio right now. I don't have any volunteer experience but I have great recommendations and a good essay. I am really nervous that this is not enough for such a competitive program
