ACC Biology Assessment Tests

Published

Hi-

I've seen quite a few threads of those in the ACC program and was curious what you thought of the biology assessment tests. Its been 20 years since my H.S. Biology class so I definitely need to refresh my memory. Any pointers??

Thanks!!

P.S. I'll x-post this in the Texas regional section as well.

I took the test in the Summer of 2008 after being out of school for more than a decade and found it really quite easy. The online preparation material Austin Community College (ACC) provides helps a great deal.

It can be found here along with all the relevant testing information:

And remember with the Biology assessment you only have to earn a 70% to pass or between a 50 - 69% for the a provisional pass to register for the class for one semester.

One note of caution - Anatomy at ACC is very challenging so if you feel weak on the sciences or it's just been a really long time, the recommendation from all my profs has been to take the Intro to Anatomy course first. Also, like with any class Professors make a big difference in your learning experience. There are some great online websites with reviews on professors to help narrow down the choices.

Hope that helps!

There are also some study courses for both anatomy and physiology in April. They cost only $40 for 16/hrs. I believe that I will be attending the anatomy one.

If you are asking about why it's blacked out on Allnurses, it's because it's against the TOS to post identifying information.

Posting Personal Identifying Information:

We reserve the right to edit messages that post personal identifying information. Posting personal information can be harmful. To avoid problems, we request that you do not post identifying information about you or someone you know. If you do, you do so at your own risk.

It can be harmful to post information about yourself and sometimes when people put stuff online such as an email address, it's a risk they are taking. Posting a teachers name is doing so without their permission and is a violation to their privacy. Especially on such a large scale forum such as Allnurses.

They've changed a lot of the guidelines recently. There is no more " provisional pass " . There are limits to how many times you can take the test and when you do it. They removed the assessment self test practice for anatomy. So, the 16 hour 40 dollars would definitely be a wise investment.
