abusive caregivers, where do they find them?

hello to all,

first i would like to say hello to all the nurses in this world we live and that my thoughts and prayers are with the poor people in haiti.

i'm here today to express some concerns and perhaps find some positive feedback but will also accept negative feedback as well. i am so fed up with ghetto, low life caregivers who show up (or not) for work to receive a paycheck. where do they find these people? i thought they do background checks but i'm not so sure now. too many times i've had to deal with this and when i report acts of neglecience to my manager, she does nothing about it nor does corporate, infact, they don't won't to hear. i wish to know how they are getting away with this. i've been verbally abused, threatened, my car was once keyed, also assaulted. yes! sadly to say, these women gang up together and formulate lies. what can you do when there are 5 against 1. its not right and i'm completely exhausted. i'm thinking to notify the state. any input?

You were physically assaulted at work?

Get out. You have already been attacked (your car) and threatened. Wise up and realize that they are telling you you're in serious danger of physical harm. Why do you think the people to whom you have reported them do nothing? Fear. They fear them.

Find somewhere else to work.

Realize that this type of worker is pretty prevalent in the get-your-hands-dirty, low-paying, back-breaking work of nursing that society generally disrespects - like child care, agricultural field work or canning factories, factory work, domestic work, laundresses, wiatresses, secretarial work, and the like.

Keep your opinions and your complaints to yourself on your new job. Understand how the world is structured. Keep yourself safe and keep your paycheck coming in. Simple as that.

Not easy and not pretty, not what you had hoped to hear. Just my opinion. I wish you well, I pray you will take the hint, and I hope you will be safe. Take it from me. I and lots of other nurses whom I know have learned the hard way.

P.S. If patients are being neglected or abused, you must still report that.

We are gluttons for punishment arent we?

Call the state, I am sure they would love to do a surprise visit on the report of abuse. Your choice on staying or not...curious why you have stayed with threats to your physical well being.

why would you hesitate to notify the State authorities, or even the police? As for where do they find them - I bet they know each other outside work and recommend one another for open positions.
