ABSN/WABSN at Dominican College of Blauvelt

Hey past and current students of the program,

I reached out to DC for more info on their accelerated nursing program, and I was impressed by how quickly and thoroughly they responded to me. I got the impression that the program was well organized and supportive of their students.

And then I came across this website full of negative reviews of the program. That the program is very disorganized, unnecessarily difficult... That the professors are inconsistent, incompetent, unprofessional, and unethical - e.g., picking on select students especially male students and students of color, showing favoritism, etc...

Anyone agree, or agree to disagree? I'm interested in applying, and I'm starting to fear I'm only starting this journey to fall right on my face. I'm hoping at least a few people on this website will have a different experience with this program. I guess... for my peace of mind!

And if you don't mind, a few questions too:

1. Classes for the weekend program are all on Sundays, right? Are you ever required to be at the school on a non-Sunday? If so, for what? And how does clinical placements work? If that flexible? How many hours/week of commitment?

2. Has anyone commuted from NYC to go here? How was the commute? Ever miss class due to traffic or snow or the like?

3. Has anyone worked full-time, or known someone who did, while attending this program? If I dedicate my weekdays on working and weekend on studying, will this be doable? The school says it's 100% doable, but I want to hear your opinions!

4. Is the tuition really a double of what's presented on their website ($12466 + $385 reg fee = $12851)? What are all these "hidden fees" people are talking about?

Any other info, thoughts, feelings, concerns, comments, ramblings, words, letters, symbols, numbers, your credit card #s (hehe, jk)... well, anything! and everything! will be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you so much guys :)

Did you ever find out? did you enroll in the program? I am looking to apply to the program.
