ABSN vs. Direct-entry MSN vs. Direct-entry FNP

So, I do have an interest in doing an ABSN program, but I am reading about direct-entry MSN and direct-entry FNP. I'm a little confused about the different programs, but I wanted to know how I would get an FNP, if I received an MSN or BSN. Also, how long would both programs be, for AN FNP degree? I did hear that a couple of programs require job experience (ie 2 years). I'm also trying to do a cost analysis and I know that a couple direct-FNP program come out do be ~$100k. Would it cost about the same going through the other pathways? Finally, can anyone speak on their experiences with these programs that want to pursue a FNP?

But I do want to caution you - please investigate employment prospects for entry-level MSN & FNP's before making such a huge commitment. My organization employs numerous ANPs in various roles. But, under no circumstances is an inexperienced ANP ever considered for employment. There is a significant level of experience required for any ANP- who, by scope of practice - must be capable of autonomous clinical practice.

That's a very good point. I guess I could check with hospital HR or nurse managers, if there phones are listed somewhere.
