Hello, for those of you applying for the ABSN-USM 2019 cohort.
I am currently a student at USM-Health Science Major with a USM GPA of 3.7 with a 3.4 in my Pre-requesites and additional courses such as Chemistry and Human Growth and Development. I am wondering who may be applying out there to this program, and why? I am extremely nervous about applying and being rejected...it's never a wonderful feeling. I always wanted to be a nurse and I wanted this fast paced opportunity for years now since my military days. Looking forward to seeing the comments and who may be applying!
Hi everyone!
I just sealed up my application and I am sending it in the mail tomorrow. It would be a dream come true to get into this program, but frankly, I'm not getting my hopes too high. I was originally a nursing major my freshman year of college so those are the prereqs that I'm using for this program. These were NOT good grades (in the C range). However, I did graduate with a 3.3 GPA and also went on to get my master's degree in Public Health with a 3.9 GPA. I do have all the supplemental courses as well from when I thought I was going to be an LPN. I'm really hoping that somehow they can look past my freshman year grades and focus more on my recent studies... Best of luck to everyone!
MCP17, I think you have a good chance of getting in based off your MS in PH. A C won't discourage the application process and since they usually go off your last degree GPA (your MS) you have a good shot. I have all the courses done and the lowest grade was a C+ with Chemistry in Health sciences here at USM. This will be my degree granting University and they will use my GPA currently for the process. Nervous. Two more months.
Sounds like you have a great shot as well! From what I've heard, I think having your other degree from USM is a plus too. My only other concern is that my prerequisites were a little different when I took them in my undergrad years. They separated anatomy and physiology instead of combining and doing a series of I and II. However, I'm hoping it still counts because I did see that my undergrad school is changing those courses to the series instead...figured I would apply anyways and if I don't get it, I'll just have to retake those classes and try again. Trying not to dwell on it for now but will be eagerly awaiting to see when people start getting letters!

I think so! The nursing/admissions person I spoke with said it didn't matter which way the documents were submitted, as long as they all arrived before 10/1! Have you called the office of admissions to double check? There's still time to send them out before the deadline.
