If anyone has any advice about whether to do an accelerated BSN second degree program or wait and get into a direct entry MSN-NP program, please let me know. I missed a deadline for a few direct entry programs and instead was in time for an accelerated BSN program and I was accepted. I am wondering if I should do the program and work for a few years, then do a masters or if I should wait an apply to a direct entry program, since my end goal is to get a masters. I am worried about taking on the debt for the accelerated program and also that my chances for getting into a masters program later on will be just as difficult as a direct entry program. Let me know if you have any advice and thanks much,

I did an accelerated BSN and am now enrolled in a MSN (FNP) program. I liked the fact that I had many different options for graduate school, as opposed to some of my colleagues who are restricted to attending the same graduate school where completed their RN preparation.

Most direct-entry MSN programs do not award a BSN, which means that if change your mind about graduate school you will not have a nursing degree of any kind. However, you often get a jump start on graduate work during your RN preparation, which can save time and money down the road.

I am very happy with my decision and would choose the accelerated BSN all over again if given the choice. Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Good luck :)
