Hey all,
Just curious if anyone has any advice on how to pay for a second BS when private loans aren't really an option? I mean, who isn't in debt after finishing a FIRST BA/BS?!!!
I feel like the programs that aren't so incredibly competitive make up for that fact by charging 50k - 75k, which (unless you are an heiress), is absolutely ridiculous.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
THANK YOU!
Amanda
Hi all!
Can anyone share any of their experiences with applying to/being accepted into an ABSN program in CA, please? (especially private universities).
Any advice on how to fund (especially private) programs?
Thanks a bunch!

Well, you can't really work during school to ease the burden because there's just no time during ABSN programs. I'd say your options are to call that old witch Sallie Mae again (what i did), or contact a rich uncle

There are plenty of grants out there for nursing students, you just have to do some research and be willing to write. Depending on your undergrad grades, you may be eligible for a Robert Wood Johnson scholarship; check with your school. I'm probably the exception to the rule, but I worked 20 hours every week while doing an accelerated nursing program and still graduated with honors.

I applied to CSU Long Beach and CSU San Marcos ABSN programs. It was a pretty standard application to the CSU. CSUSM didn't want you to fill out the CSU app until you get accepted by their nursing program. CSUSM charged like $120 for their nursing app. CSULB also requires a separate app for nursing I believe. After you get in, you are required to go in person for an in person interview. CSULB is 5 semesters, through the summer so it's 2.5 years. CSUSM is 2 years. Sorry I didn't know what you wanted to know so hopefully something in there helped you!
p.s. I also considered applying to Samuel Merritt in Oakland (private) for their 1 year ABSN program. The program is like $65k for the one year. You need to have your Pharm and Patho done in order to apply. I decided not to apply because 1 year is way too short of a time for me to absorb all the material and way too expensive. I would have been done quickly but with this job market where new grads are struggling hard to find jobs, I didn't want to graduate with all that debt.
