About to "graduate"....

Hey all, I was wondering if any of you could help me out with my situation:

I transferred to my current school in January and I just found out that the Dean of Nursing here was supposed to refer me to a counselor to make sure my transcripts were okay, etc, etc. Well, she never did and since she didn't tell me I didn't know, so I went to a counselor today. Turns out my Poli Sci and math (I challenged it at my other school and got into the program that way so I never took an actual class) don't count so I have to take them next semester. What pisses me off is that I could've taken those classes this past summer, but since she told me everything was okay, I assumed she knew what she was talking about! :(

There's no way I could do it now, in what was supposed to be my last semester; school's just too hard to add anything else. The chair of the department said that I should be able to take my boards still and be able to work (probably only in California) while I finish my other TWO classes and I was wondering if any of you had heard anything on the subject.

Sorry about all the blabbering! :D

#1 I learned a long time ago to check, recheck, and check again on the requirements for graduation. You need to know them better than the counselors because they often forget or overlook things as in your case. It would have happened to me several times, too, but I knew better and found out well before I had any problems.

#2 I have two previous degrees, an AS & a BA, and I asked this very question of our Nursing Director. I too was lacking in Political Science and could care less about another Associate degree at this point. I was told the California Board of Nursing requires a degree in Nursing to qualify for the NCLEX exam. I don't know if she was right or if your Dean is, but I took the silly class via our school's distance leanring program and quite easily A'ced it. It was actually a fun class as I have been interested in politics and history for a long time.

Regards,

Ken
