AANP Exam

Passed my AGNP exam today! Wanted to share my experience. If you're anything like me I was scouring blogs on the best way to tackle this exam.

I used the Leik book for content review. I allotted a months time to go through this and do practice questions after each section to reinforce knowledge. Also used boardvitals for extra question practice. In my opinion, the Leik book gives you all the information you need to succeed and more. Boardvitals questions were much more challenging than the exam but were very helpful to critically think through disease processes.

With these two resources I found the exam to be easy. There weren't very many questions that required much critical thinking.

How was the test? How are the questions? I will be taking mines soon and I am so nervous.

How did you study for the exam? I've done Leik, SM Q Bank, Board vitals, and did the two day on-line Fitzgerald review course. I'm taking my AANP AGNP soon too.

Uimited Access to Upskilly AGNP test prep app ( iphone or Google)

Margaret A Fitzgerald NP Certification Exam Prep ( online access to practice questions)

Amelie Hollier Certifications Exam book

Maria Leik AGNP Certification intensive review book (online access) can also download app

I also bought practice tests from the  Barkely review, Amelie Hollier website, and exam edge. I studied for about 3 months , mainly doing review questions and I would take notes on things that I often got wrong. I did not study the day before the test. Doing alot of review questions helped me the most.

Hi . Thanks for sharing your experience, I have a couple of questions.

What score should I aim for for board vitals exams ?

I failed in December and I have been studying since, my wife delivered a baby last month, I never stopped studying. This time around, I did five exam age, I did the Sarah Michelle question bank, I went back and read the leak book, I just purchased the board vitals and I'm going to complete it and then go back and do the leak questions again, I believe I should have more than enough practice questions.. any other recommendation will be appreciated. But at this point I feel I have done so much already

I would say 70-80 is a good range. I think what helped me the most was doing alot of review questions. You are well over prepared. I did not study the day before the test . I took that time to relax and to rest my nerves.

Thank you

I have been doing lots and lots of questions, however sometimes I feel down and discouraged when I score low, for example I just purchased the board vitals and I scored 52 on an exam that was timed, the questions were very difficult, but I also was not fully focused, with the Sarah Michelle questions, I was doing well without issues, I will keep doing the board vitals until my score improves.

I felt the same way. I didn't do so good on the tests that I purchased from Barkely review, Amelie Hollier website . I did feel That the board vitals questions were hard as well. don't be  to hard on yourself .

Hi I am taking the AANP AGNP test soon. I purchased and completed the two practice exams available on the AANP website. I enjoyed taking these exams as it gets you used to the interface you will see on exam day. I scored an 89% on both practice exams. It says online not to use those practice exams as an indicator that you will actually do well or pass on exam day. Can anyone provide me with feedback on this? Did anyone take those practice exams and feel OK for the board exam? I am very nervous and not sure if I am ready or these tests can gauge if you will do well.

I passed by AANP a few weeks ago. I used board vitale, Leik book, APEA test bank. For me, I thought the leik book and board vitale were the best. APEA I think gave a whole lot more information than needed.

From the questions I can remember study on :

High BP, Asthma, Squamous basal cell cancer, rhinitis, syphilis, trich, osteoarthritis, finkelstein test, Meniscus tear test, rhinitis medicamentosa, glaucoma, definitely read up on the elderly and changes that the elderly go through, placement of stethoscope to hear certain hear sounds such aortic stenosis, cranial nerves, PVD, PAD, giant cell arteritis, polymyalgia rheumatica.

These are the topics that I remeber on my exam. But honestly, from the others that were I my class an hae taken the exam, it really is a crabshoot what you'll get. I didn't get one cranial nerve question, while my other classmates got several.
