AANP Exam for Primary care NP

Published

I am an international student of Primary care Nurse practitioner at Auburn University, Alabama. I looked AANP website for NP certification and I found certifications for Family care NP specialty, Adult care NP specialty etc but there was no certification for general Primary Care NP. My degree doesn't specifically concentrate of any particular specialty. I will study courses related to adult care and family care. Here I am providing a list of my course cirriculum:-

NURS 7340 Advanced Theoretical Formulations 3 cr.

NURS 7350 Quality & Safety and Preventative Health 3 cr.

NURS 7360 Evidence Based Practice I 2 cr.l

NSG 6671 Pathophysiology (Troy) 3 cr.

NURS 7370 Evidence Based Practice II 2 cr.

NURS 7250 Healthcare Policy and Ethics for the Nurse Leaders 3 cr.

NURS 7940 Evidence Based Project III 2 cr.

NURS 6649 Adv. Pharmacology 3cr.

NURS 7110 Advanced Health and Physical Assessment 3 cr.

NURS 7220 Roles and Issues of the Primary Care Nurse Practitioner 3 cr.

NURS 7330 Diagnostic Reasoning and Clinical Management 3 cr.

NURS 7440 Primary Care I: Women and Children 3 cr.

NURS 7550 Primary Care II: Adults and Elderly 3 cr.

NURS 7920 Primary Care Practicum 7 cr

NURS 7940 Evidence Based Practice III

I am wondering if I am eligible for AANP Exam?

Upon successful completion of my MS, will I be able to select one specialty for AANP Exam? My program is CCNE accredited.

Thanks in advance

Yes, that is a Family NP program.

Hi, I am an out-of-state student accepted into Auburn's PCNP program. I was wondering if you could give me some information regarding your classes and clinical sites. Where did you do your clinicals? Were all of your courses online?

I am in my second semester and havent started the clinicals yet. Till now all the courses were online and most probably will stay the same.

Hi! I'm also interested in studying a MSN as an international student in the US. My question is, can you take the exam certification under a student visa status? I'm just wondering if you need a SSN to take the exam.

Thank you!

I think there should not be a problem with writing certification exam under student visa as you can legally work in US for 12 months after completion of you studies without having an H-1 B. Even if SSN is required, you can get one by working on campus while studying.
