Has anyone gone or going to the AANP conference. This year it is in Indianapolis. I am going to the Heart Rhythm Society national meeting in May, but I would also like to go to a NP focused event as well. I would appreciate any input. If you have been, did you feel it was worth the time etc.
Thanks
Kristie

Hello, Kristiern1
I've not been, but am interested in reports from those who do, too.

I attended last year's AANP National Conference in Grapevine, Texas. I went with my fellow NP's from work since the hospital offered to pay. Just some tips to remember if you plan to attend this year.
Register for sessions early. A lot of the popular sessions such as suturing, invasive lines, fundamental critical care course, etc. got filled up really fast. Also register for a room in the hotel early. Because there was a huge turn-out last year, a lot of the attendees were not able to get a room in the hotel where the sessions were being held and were assigned to overflow hotels that were not that close to the venue at all.
Our NP group felt like the sessions were largely primary-care directed and was quite lacking in focused sessions for acute and critical care specializations. There were some sessions which we found helpful such as the ones addressing legal issues for NP's. All in all, we felt that the conference was a nice break from work and a great opportunity to interact with NP's from all over the country.
