Just curious if anyone out there is going to Seattle for the National convention in August.
Has anyone attended the meeting before? I have signed up for a few of the sessions, and would be curious on what would benefit a first year student the most.
Hope to see you there.

The national meeting is a great experience for any student. Any of the educational sessions that look interesting to you are worth going to.
I would also like to encourage you to attend the association related activities. There are lots of these open to everyone, including students. The regional breakouts are particularly good, you get to hear what is going on in your states and the states near you. With our political battles being fought at the state level, every single one of us is on the front line. You need to know what the hot issues are in your area.
And go the the business meeting. Students don't always know that it is OK for them to go. It is, you just can't vote. It is sometimes dry, and even tedious. But it is so important. This is the process by which big organizations get things done. After all, the business meeting is the very reason we all get together once a year!
Oh yeah, and don't forget to have some fun, too. I'm glad you are going, I think you will get a lot out of it in many ways.

We're going! (My husband and me that is). He will be attending the conference and I will be out shopping!!!! December 4 is his graduation date and we are very excited!
I will be there....and looking forward to it...hey don't forget about the student breakfast on Sunday at 0700 - i need votes!!!LOL
Won't be able to make it this year due to finances but hope to make it to DC next year!!
I will be at the breakfast, not sure what I am voting for, but I have benefited from your prior posts. Hope to see you there.
Pooh Bear Girl-
Don't know if you have been to Seattle before, but a great place to start your shopping would be Pacific Place Downtown...it is a couple of blocks away from the convention center...there are lots of stores between the convention center and Pacific Place to get side tracked in as well. Hope your husband dosent mind the tips...lol.
I'll be there. I am from Cali, Samuel Merritt College, I am taking my wife and kids. They'll be out playing while I am enjoying myself at the conference. I was in Boston last year by myself before i got into the program and loved the conference.
I'll be there!!!!!
